Senior healthcare bosses have warned the strike will be the worst in the health service’s history.looks at why the walkout is due to have an unparalleled impact on stretched services and patient care.There are a number of reasons this particularly strike is set to cause unprecedented disruption, including it being the most extensive on record and coming at a time when services are already stretched.

Over the course of the strike, hospitals will face nearly a hundred hours without up to half of the NHS medical workforce.there was no question this action would be worse than previous strikes. Professor Sir Stephen Powis, national medical director for the NHS in England, said: “The NHS has been preparing extensively for the next set of strikes but managing additional pressure doesn’t get easier as time goes by – it gets much more difficult – not only due to the sheer number of appointments that need to be rescheduled but also that they can take time to rearrange with multiple teams involved.
