Liverpool news as Trent Alexander-Arnold has goal ruled-out for offside at Old Trafford against Manchester United
Liverpool and Manchester United locked horns for the first time in the 2024/25 Premier League season on Sunday. It is also the first time that Arne Slot faced Erik ten Hag in England after their battles in the Netherlands. The Reds came into the fixture after two wins from their opening two games of the season after defeating Ipswich Town and Brentford. United welcomed Slot's men to Old Trafford after losing 2-1 to Brighton last week.
Alexander-Arnold was at the back post and got enough in his shot to open the scoring before replicating Steven Gerrard's famous celebration at Old Trafford. However, after a short VAR check, the opening goal was disallowed for offside after Mohamed Salah got a slight touch. The forward had made his way into the box and was in an offside position when the ball went past him.
