Assange will make the plea at a courthouse in the U.S. territory of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, avoiding extradition to the U.S. mainland. That courthouse is also much closer to his home country of Australia, where he is expected to go following the hearing. “The fact that there is a guilty plea, under the Espionage Act in relation to obtaining and disclosing National Defence information is obviously a very serious concern for journalists and national security journalists in general,”
