Gardeners are being encouraged to leave a tray of water in their gardens this weekend in a bid to help out wildlife after days of scorching temperatures. While many have enjoyed the warmer weather, especially following a particularly drizzly June and and early July, it can be detrimental to vital pollinators that keep our ecosystem afloat.

The World Wildlife Foundation has warned that bumblebee numbers are in serious decline due to habitat loss from factors such as pesticides, pollution, and climate change, as the Express reports. That’s why gardeners are being asked to leave a tray of water in their gardens this weekend in a bid to help bumblebees endure the harsh weather conditions. "Unfortunately, like many insects, bumblebees are in decline due to habitat loss linked to land use change, pesticides, and pollution, all made worse by climate change. As temperatures rise, bumblebees are moving north to look for more suitable environments, but sadly some species could find themselves with nowhere left to go.
