Will Smith has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences
Will Smith has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences following backlash for slapping Chris Rock on-stage at the 94th Oscars on Sunday 27 March, according to reports.
He continued: "I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken." Will, who shares children Willow, 21, and Jaden, 23, with wife Jada, shared how 'change takes time' and revealed how he is 'committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason'.
