THE Northern Lights might be visible in Scotland again on Saturday after the rare phenomenon was spotted across the country overnight.
Also known as aurora borealis, the bands of pink and green light were seen across the UK and in parts ofafter an “extreme” geomagnetic storm caused them to be more visible, according to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration .
“Also, at this time of year, we are fighting the shorter length of nights, so it is unlikely that they will be visible until around 10.30pm or 11 o’clock when it gets really dark.” Aurora displays occur when charged particles collide with gases in the Earth’s atmosphere around the magnetic poles.
