Aldi is giving away ten £150 vouchers to help shoppers kickstart the New Year with healthy eating. The supermarket is partnering with food waste expert Kate Hall to share tips on maximizing Aldi's Fresh Guarantee and keeping fruit and vegetables fresh for longer. New research reveals that over half of Brits are ashamed about their fruit and vegetable waste, throwing out nearly 500 pieces and £520 a year. Bananas and salad bags are the biggest culprits.
We all want to get the new year off to a healthy start and what better way to do that than by winning one of ten £150 vouchers to spend at Aldi - recently crowned by Which? as the cheapest supermarket for the fourth consecutive year. The giveaway comes as the supermarket teams up with home food waste expert, Kate Hall , to show shoppers how to make the most of Aldi's Fresh Guarantee and keep their fruit and veg fresh for longer.
According to new research from Aldi, over half (52%) of Brits admit they are ashamed about how much fruit and veg they bin, tossing out nearly 500 pieces and wasting up to £520 a year. On average, 53% of Brits throw out food which hasn’t even been touched, with 56% admitting that they completely forget about food they’ve bought. It’s estimated that Brits throw away at least nine pieces of fruit and veg a week — a total of 468 a year — with over half (52%) believing they waste up to £10 every week on food that gets thrown out. Bananas were revealed as the worst offenders with salad bags coming in a close second. To help Brits reduce food waste, Kate has some top tips to guarantee fresh fruit and veg for longer: Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, we are proud to offer a helping hand in ensuring our shoppers have the freshest fruit and veg possible with our Fresh Guarantee. If customers aren’t satisfied with their purchase, they are welcome to return fresh fruit and vegetables for a full refund. We hope shoppers find Kate's tips helpful and by following her advice, spot a difference in the longevity of their fruit and veg.” To make a return, customers must bring the fruit and veg into store and Aldi will provide a full refund. It's safe to say £150 will go a long way towards stocking up on healthy fruit and veg at Aldi, so what are you waiting for?
