The Texas Department of Public Safety said driver license offices across the state would be closed Friday because of the computer glitch
The Microsoft Windows outage that's thrown airlines, emergency response systems and businesses into chaos this morning has forced the Texas Department of Public Safety to close driver license offices across the state. 'Our IT teams are working diligently on a fix, however there is no current estimate on when DLOs will reopen,' DPS said in a post on the social media platform X. DPS made the announcement as the scope of the outage's fallout came into view.
Locally, the emergency services systems at the city of San Antonio and Bexar County appeared to be unaffected by the outage. But the Bexar Appraisal District said its IT system was knocked offline and the county tax assessor-collector's office said it couldn't process vehicle transactions because the software glitch had hobbled the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles' system. Microsoft users reported widespread outages beginning late Thursday.
