Manchester Young Carers Music Project and Little Amal were also recognised for their contribution towards Manchester's arts and culture scene
Individuals, events and organisations including HOMEground, Lemn Sissay, the Science and Industry Museum and Withington Walls co-founder Ed Wellard were amongst those recognised for their contribution within Manchester’s rapidly growing arts and culture scene.
The Best Exhibition award was given to the Science and Industry Museum’s Cancer Revolution: Science, Innovation and Hope display, while Manchester International Festival’s When The Birds Land, which featured the 3.5 metre-tall puppet Little Amal, fetched the Best Performance prize. Winners for 11 of the awards were chosen by an esteemed panel of judges, including Councillor Luthfur Rahman OBE, Young Creative of the Year 2021 winner Princess Arinola Adegbite and visual artist Pete Courtie.
Special Recognition awards were handed out to Manchester’s Director of Culture Dave Moutrey OBE, author, poet, playwright, and campaigner Lemn Sissay and the late Kate Day, who led Manchester Craft Design Centre for almost 15 years.
