Heavy, wet snow is forecast for New England along with lake-effect snow for the Great Lakes, before another two storm fronts arrive in the Pacific Northwest.
Winter storm warnings are in place for parts of 10 states as a front is set to bring heavy, wet snow and strong winds across New England and into the Great Lakes into Monday, before another two storms bring mountain snow to the Pacific Northwest.
Meanwhile, chilly air from the northwest will facilitate lake-effect snow—a phenomenon in which cold air from Canada picks up moisture from large bodies of water to produce precipitation—downwind of the Great Lakes and into the Appalachians. The region has already seen several bouts of lake-effect snow this winter.'The snow showers are expected to linger into Monday but they will gradually taper off as the huge storm will take some time to move farther away,' the weather agency said.
