The RNC is “going on as planned,” the state GOP chair said.

Wisconsin GOP Chair Brian Schimming, standing outside Fiserv Forum Sunday morning in Milwaukee, sought to allay concerns from Republican delegates en route to the convention after the Pennsylvania shooting. “This is probably one of the most secure areas on the face of the planet right now,” said Schimming, who is also a member of the RNC’s Committee on Arrangements, the body tasked with putting on the four-day convention.

He added that the RNC has been working “for months” with the Secret Service, the city, the county, and “dozens” of law enforcement agents across the region. He said there is no reason for any major changes to the security plan as of now, and that he has shared his confidence in the convention’s safety with other state chairs and GOP delegates. “I'm not concerned about the security,” Schimming said.
