Rep. Tom Emmer, Minnesota Republican, laid the blame for a killing in his home state at the feet of Ms. Harris, who fundraised for a project to help make bail for some of the rioters who took to the streets of Minneapolis after the death of George Floyd in 2020. One of those freed “went on to murder a man in St. Paul,” Mr. Emmer said.
Eight years earlier, when Mr. Biden was vice president seeking reelection with President Obama, he was mentioned by roughly a half-dozen speakers over the four nights, though almost always in just a passing reference. And the criticism has come from senior Republicans and average Americans, and over everything from her record on crime to her approach to relations with China.
“Kamala Harris had one job, and that was to fix the border. Now imagine her in charge of the entire country,” Nikki Haley told the GOP convention.
