Wolves are leading the race to sign RC Lens center-back Kevin Danso in the January transfer window. The 26-year-old has been identified as Wolves ' top target, with Lens open to selling to balance their books. Sources say talks have been held internally at Wolves regarding a deal for the Austria international, who impressed at the European Championships in the summer.
Sporting director Matt Hobbs is aware a new defender is needed in January if new manager Vitor Pereira is to lead the club to Premier League survival. Danso is the primary option being considered by the Midlands club after his impressive performances with Lens in Ligue 1. He has made 10 appearances in France’s top flight this term and has also appeared in the French Cup and Uefa Conference League qualifying. The 26-year-old has made 126 appearances for Lens in total since joining from Augsburg in 2021. Danso is under contract in northern France until June 2027 after penning his last extension in 2023. He has previous Premier League experience after making six top-flight appearances with Southampton on loan in the 2019-20 campaign. Wolves sit 18th in the table and are two points from safety after beating Leicester 3-0 on Sunday (22 December). Pereira’s side are in action against Man United and Tottenham before the transfer window opens on 1 January
