Ex-wife of Thomas Campbell visited psychic days after his death and received message from beyond grave, trial told
A woman on trial accused of the murder of her former husband visited a psychic days after his death and received a message from beyond the grave, a jury heard. Coleen Campbell, who had been married to Thomas Campbell for a decade, spoke with a clairvoyant four days after her former spouse had been found dead at his home, Bolton Crown Court heard.
John Belfield, 28, who is not before the court and is thought to have fled the country, is alleged to have been the 'mastermind' of the attack. He is said to have plotted to rob Mr Campbell at his home after seeing a Manchester Evening News article about Mr Campbell and his ex-wife's 'wealthy lifestyle'.
A tracking device was allegedly placed on Mr Campbell's car by Mr Cleworth on June 27, when he was picking his daughter up from school. Prosecutors claim that Mr Campbell's alleged killers had been 'lying in wait for him' two nights before the fatal attack, but he 'unknowingly evaded his pursuers' after taking his dog for a walk.
"She looked as though she was reading things off the sheet," Lynn Campbell said. "Coleen told me that Thomas had come through during her visit to the psychic and asked her to come to my house." Lynn Campbell said she had made it clear that she didn't want to know the nature of her son's injuries. "I didn't see Coleen again following this and haven't seen her since." During his opening speech earlier in the trial, prosecutor Nicholas de la Poer KC said: "At this stage, the police had not revealed to the public the injuries to Thomas Campbell’s face.
