The woman left the court as her friend gave evidence about the moment she told him the former NRL player had “locked” her body against her kitchen bench.
A woman allegedly groped by former NRL player George Burgess has burst from a court in tears as her friend recounted the moment she told him she had been “locked” against her kitchen bench.
She said Burgess had put an arm on either side of her on the kitchen bench and “pressed himself up against me”, and had also “put his arms around me to hug me and grabbed both my butt cheeks”. At this point, the complainant, seated in the front row of the public gallery, stood up and wailed before leaving the courtroom.
“I said if something happened that was a little bit uncouth that she should report it … to police,” he said. “It didn’t sound like a consensual interaction.”
