The unnamed child was reported missing at around 5pm before being found a short time later in Kingsley Pond near Bordon, England.
She was rushed to hospital where medics described her condition as serious. Tragically it was announced on Monday that she had died.
Hampshire Police have since confirmed that a woman in her 40s has been arrested on suspicion of murder. She is being held in police custody while enquires are ongoing. A spokesperson for Hampshire Police told the Mirror: "A woman, aged in her 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. She is currently in police custody."
