A Brazilian woman is accused of poisoning her family's Christmas cake, resulting in the deaths of three relatives.
A 61-year-old woman from Brazil , Zeli Terezinha Silva dos Anjos, is accused of baking a Christmas cake that killed her two sisters, Maida (58) and Neuza (65), and her niece Tatiana (43). Traces of arsenic were found in the bodies of the three women who died shortly after consuming the cake. Three other family members, including Zeli and a 10-year-old boy, were also hospitalized after falling ill.
Police plan to exhume the body of Zeli's husband, Paolo Luiz, who reportedly died of food poisoning in September. Zeli has spoken to the police, but investigators are yet to determine if the victims were intentionally poisoned. The 10-year-old boy, believed to be Tatiana's son, is in a stable condition. Seven members of the family were eating the cake at Zeli's home on the coast of Brazil. One person, who has not been named, did not partake in the cake
