The woman was seriously injured after being battered her over the head 10 times.
Christopher Jamieson, 40, smashed his way into the woman's home late night and carried out a terrifying 10-minute assault, during which he battered her with the tool, punched, bit and choked her.
He faces a lengthy jail-term after he pled guilty to assaulting his ex to her severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of his life at the property in Greenock on February 8 this year. Mr Sutherland: "He appeared unable to accept it was over. Prior to the incident, he had contacted her repeatedly by phone and text message."
The woman managed to briefly break free - but Jamieson went on to sink his teeth into her nose, arms and below her eye.The recording of the woman's horror ordeal was played to judge Lord Armstrong. During it, the victim hysterically screamed for help as sickening sounds of the assault can also be heard.
