GRAPHIC IMAGE WARNING: Border Collie Missy, eight, was put to sleep after being given a 'one in a million' chance of recovering from her numerous injuries.
Missy was attacked while being walked by her 75-year-old owner in a field close to their home in Elie, Fife, on February 11.
A probe was launched by Fife Council's dog warden who issued a control notice ordering the two terriers to be muzzled and on leads in public spaces. A force spokesperson told the Daily Record: "Around 4.30pm on Sunday, 11 February, we received a report of a dog-on-dog attack at Kilconquhar, Leven. She explained: "I can’t drive anymore and my eyesight is only going to get worse. Going out for a walk in the back field is my only option for exercise when John isn’t here.
Husband John Baker, 78, added: "I've had to hold my weeping wife while she cuddled Missy's ashes, apologising that she couldn’t save her. This is going to stay with her for the rest of her life."
