Geraldine McNamee from Derry has been jailed for two months after admitting to supplying Pregabalin to a man who later died from a fatal cardiac arrest. McNamee's appeal against the sentence was withdrawn in court today.
Geraldine McNamee, from John Street in Derry , was jailed for two months at the city’s Crown Court.
On Monday, McNamee withdrew her appeal against the jail sentence which she received in the Magistrate’s Court last month. At the city’s County Court, Judge Neil Rafferty KC also lifted an anonymity order in the case after a prosecution barrister told him there was “no live police intelligence” relating to any paramilitary threat against McNamee.
At the Magistrate’s Court hearing last month District Judge Barney McElholm said “this drug pregabalin should be seen as a Class A drug, not a Class C drug. Pregabalin in one of the most dangerous drugs out there”. In the County Court today McNamee’s barrister Michael Donaghey told Judge Rafferty that McNamee had decided to withdraw her appeal against the two month jail sentence and she was taken into immediate custody.
