Emergency services raced to the scene after she got into difficulties
A woman was rescued after getting into difficulties in the River Mersey this evening. It happened at the stretch of the river in Didsbury shortly before 5pm.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said two fire engines as well as a water incident unit and technical response unit attended.They helped police in 'leading one woman to safety' they said. She was then handed over to the care of the ambulance service. The Manchester Evening News understands she was conscious and breathing. It is unclear if she was taken to hospital.
