A woman found in a North Yorkshire river has died and a man has been arrested A woman has died after being pulled from a river- and a man ‘known to her’ has been arrested. Emergency services rushed to Yorkshire’s River Derwent in Malton at around 11.40pm yesterday. Fire crews say they dragged two people from the waterway, and performed CPR on the woman, who later died in hospital. A man in his 40s was later arrested in connection with the death and remains in police custody.
‘We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. ‘There is a significant police presence in Malton as we investigate this incident. ‘We understand members of the public may be upset or concerned about what has happened – our Neighbourhood Policing Team will be in the town to offer reassurance.’ North Yorkshire Fire Service said: ‘Crews from Malton responded to reports of two persons in the water behind the bus station.
