A woman whose parents' cremations were handled by a scandal-hit funeral home has said if the ashes she has at home belong to the loved one of someone else, she wants them to know "they have been loved and respected".

She was joined by around 20 members of the public as she lay out 35 peach roses, adorned with cards and ribbon, YorkshireLive reports.

Through tears, she told YorkshireLive: "My family were cremated and their ashes were spread together. Some were made into jewellery, some were put in the rose garden at Chanterlands Crematorium and some in a little urn at home. Assistant Chief Constable Thom McLoughlin said: “Exactly one week ago today , following concern about the storage and management processes relating to care of the deceased at the funeral directors, my team of specialist trained officers began to respectfully recover 35 deceased people from Legacy Independent Funeral Directors on Hessle Road in Hull.

“A scene guard remains in place on Hessle Road in Hull; however, I can confirm specialist search teams concluded their searches at the business premises yesterday . In the last seven days, we have received over 1500 calls from those who have used Legacy Independent Funeral Directors. I am aware that this has been a worrying time for our communities, and I want to thank them for their help and patience throughout the start of this investigation.
