A pregnant mother-of-two was sold as a ‘wife’ for £10,000 outside a Glasgow Primark store before being locked up and raped by her abuser, a court has heard.
The woman, who was four or five months pregnant at the time, says the man ‘constantly wanted to sleep with me all the time’ and had raped her twice.The unidentified woman was giving evidence at the trial of Vojtech Gombar, 61, Anil Wagle, 37, Jana Sandorova, 28, and Ratislav Adam, 31, who deny trafficking women to Scotland for prostitution and slavery.It is alleged by prosecutors that women were trafficked and held in ‘slavery or servitude’ between 2011 and 2017.
In a witness statement given by the woman in May 2015, she said ‘she sold me for ten thousand’, but later in court she claimed she could not be sure if she had seen money change hands outside the store, stating: ‘It may have but I forget.’She added: ‘He wanted me to sleep with him because when they sold me he thought I was his wife. He said he’d paid money for me.’
The woman, who said she had been brought to the city ‘for a better life’ from her home in Trebisov in 2014, said: ‘Nel didn’t treat me very well. He constantly wanted to sleep with me all the time.
