A passenger on a long-haul flight refused to give up her paid-for premium economy seat to an elderly couple who claimed their assigned seats had insufficient legroom.
A woman had a brilliant response when an elderly couple tried to nab her plane seat during a 13-hour flight. Travel ling long haul can be pretty gruelling, so it's less than ideal to have to handle inconsiderate passengers around you. But this woman felt like she didn't have a choice when she jetted off on a three-month world tour with her partner. She posted: 'We booked and paid for our flights and I added the premium economy seats as I'm 6'3 and wanted the extra leg room. Cost an extra $60.
This flight was with Air New Zealand, the screen has your name on it when you get to your seat. 'Welcome OUR SURNAME' We get on the plane. Find our seats and there is this older couple sitting there (mid 70s).' The globe-trotter asked the elderly pair to double-check their tickets, assuming a simple mistake, but the situation became very awkward. She continued: 'I show them my ticket and seat number and point to my name on the screen. They then ask me just sit in their seats which was 10 rows back. No leg room.' While the woman understandably refused this demand, as she had paid for premium seats, the older couple refused to move. They moaned their original seats didn't provide enough leg room. Thankfully though, she was able to flag down a flight attendant to help her. The cabin crew intervened and moved the couple back to their designated space. However, other passengers weren't impressed. The woman said: 'I got some stink eyes from other people on the flight. I paid for the extra leg room and I need it.' Despite some people reacting negatively, Reddit users were on the paying passengers' side. They didn't think they should have to move out of eats they had paid for, no matter how old their fellow travellers are. So what do you make of the situation?
