Melanie Cook claimed she had attacked him because he 'tortured' her
Melanie Cook, 37, was handed a suspended sentence after being convicted of causing actual bodily harm. Preston Crown Court heard on December 13 2021, Lancashire Police received two 999 calls in a short space of time.
The other was from Cook, who said she had stabbed her partner, claiming she had attacked him because he 'tortured' her. Officers went to the area and found Cook's partner outside, with a visible wound to his leg.Paramedics also arrived at the scene and noted the man had grazes to his face and cuts to his hands. A stab wound to his thigh was cleaned and dressed, and he was advised to go to hospital but refused.
Recorder Imran Shafi KC, sentencing, said Cook, of Skeffington Road, Preston, had lived a "wretched life" from the age of 12. She suffered "horrific difficulties" which had a profound and lasting impact on her, he said. However the judge said since the attack in 2021, Cook has returned to the North East and has managed to stay away from hard drugs with the support of her family. The court heard her partner did not support the prosecution against her and did not give a statement or provide any further details about what had happened on December 13.
