Lauren says being pregnant during the pandemic has been hard. She has felt isolated, but thankfully under Scotland’s easing plans, she can now visit family in her garden.She was diagnosed with Covid-19 back in March, so had been isolating ever since as a precaution.
Lauren has recently had an early scan due to ongoing shoulder tip pain. Due to her infertility history and having previously had a miscarriage, the hospital allowed her to go in to be checked. ‘However, I was told it was up to me whether I wanted to visit the hospital if I was worried about Covid, which isn’t the right response if a woman is worried about a life-threatening issue like ectopic pregnancy.‘There was an odd atmosphere and I was chaperoned into different rooms as opposed to wandering myself.Lauren is anticipating a lot of ‘lockdown shagger’ jokes
‘Partners of pregnant people often feel sidelined and the rules for maternity services are currently making it worse.‘I hope they are lifted by the time I am due but in the meantime, I am using a private scan service that will allow me to have my husband present.’
