Julia Hernandez was left unable to smile after suffering a stroke aged just 21. She has since undergone pioneering surgery which saw the left side of her face reanimated with muscle taken from her thigh
Julia Hernandez was left badly disabled after the 2013 stroke, which caused a cluster of blood vessels to burst in her brain. The beauty pageant champion was eventually able to come to terms with the paralysis thanks to the love and support of her family. Last May, Julia underwent a grueling eight hour facial reanimation operation at the University of California San Francisco
