Protesters mark 50 years since landmark decision that protected abortion rights nationwide
, a radical rightwing movement hijacked our courts and eliminated federal protections for abortions,” said Rachel Carmona, executive director of the Women’s March organization, who orchestrated the nationwide events.
Celeste Hidalgo, 4o, attended the march with her daughter, Raven Hidalgo, 18. It was Raven’s first marching experience.“I’m here because it’s unfair men are taking away our rights over our own bodies,” she said, referring to male-dominated courts and legislatures. In Madison, Wisconsin, designated as Sunday’s main event, thousands of protesters flooded the streets, with signs that read “abortion is healthcare” and “my body, my soul, my life, my choice.”
