Antonio Loiacono, 20, died after he was knocked out during his football team's first match of the season on Saturday.

A rising football star who died after an on-field collision over the weekend has been remembered for his"special" aura and ability to"put a smile on anyone’s face around him".

According to The Advertiser, Loiacono's heart stopped for about 30 minutes after the collision. He was eventually revived and put on life support when he reached the hospital. “Your aura was so special and would put a smile on anyone’s face around him. You are the most caring thoughtful person I’ve come across and always looked out for me, I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done and helped me through you’re my guidance and always will be.The solemn message was shared with more than 20 pictures and videos of the two pair and immediately gathered messages of support.

Sturt Football Club medical trainer Nicholas Swingler also shared his condolences to the family and friends as well the clubs involved in the game. “The Great Southern Football League forwards it sincere condolences to the family and friends of Birdwood Football Club player Antonio Loiacono,” a statement read.“Community Football is what we live for and this is a truly sad time when a player is cut down by an unfortunate on field incident, no matter what level of the game.
