Workers who figured in accidents while on duty during calamities can avail of benefits, the Employees' Compensation Commission said Thursday.

In a televised public briefing, ECC officer-in-charge and executive director Jose Maria Batino said beneficiaries may receive P480 per day for private employees and P200 for government workers. “Meron pong mga benepisyo kapag ang isang manggagawa ay naaksidente, nagkasakit, at huwag naman sana namatay nang dahil sa kanyang paggawa o pagtatrabaho kasama na rin po doon ang mga manggagawang posibleng naaksidente sa panahon ng mga kalamidad,” he said.

Qualified beneficiaries are compulsory members of the Social Security System and those who are self-employed, Batino said.Meanwhile, for government workers, qualified beneficiaries are compulsory members of the Government Service Insurance System and uniformed personnel. For disability and sickness benefits of private employees, Batino said employers should send an application on behalf of their workers through their My.SSS account.Meanwhile, for government employees, the claimants should submit their application to a GSIS branch to avail the benefits.
