Reigning world champion Luke Littler is celebrating his 18th birthday today amidst a busy darts calendar. The young star kicked off the year by clinching his first world title, defeating Michael van Gerwen at Alexandra Palace. Littler opted for a quiet celebration, acknowledging his packed schedule of upcoming tournaments.
Darts prodigy and reigning world champion Luke Littler, who turns 18 today (January 21), has shared his low-key birthday plans amid a hectic schedule. And he has already earned himself the perfect present. Already boasting an impressive resume, Littler kicked off the year by clinching the World Darts Championship title, becoming the youngest ever world champion after defeating Michael van Gerwen at Alexandra Palace this month.
His victory added to a stellar year in which he also picked up the Premier League and the Grand Slam of Darts titles. Reflecting on his World Darts Championship win, Littler expressed: 'I can't believe it. Everyone dreams of lifting this trophy, and to actually do it is incredible. 'I said I needed a quick start, and I got it, but Michael was always there behind me. To get it done when I did was special,' the Runcorn-born thrower continued. 'I could end 2025 winning absolutely nothing, but I've picked up the best. I want to get more than 10 titles this year but if, I end 2025 with nothing, I've picked the big one up.' Having bagged £500,000 in prize money, Littler previously mentioned his desire to treat himself to a Mercedes A-Class. Yet, due to a hectic darts calendar, he's opting for a quiet celebration: 'I haven't got anything planned really because there is a lot of darts around this time,' he told the PA news agency. 'I will probably just do something at home before the crazy schedule starts. I gave myself the best early birthday present by winning the worlds. 'My first year has been difficult, at the start of the year with the Premier League and travelling to the European tours, I have been travelling up and down the country. It's at the start of every year when the crazy schedule is.' Littler will travel to Den Borsch for the Dutch Darts Masters later on this week before participating in the World Masters at the end of the month. Meanwhile, the high-profile Premier League starts in February
