Iga Swiatek has put a spotlight on the glaring gap between the WTA and ATP's prize money after her winner's cheque was less than a quarter of her male counterpart's.
The 21-year-old Polish star won the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart this week but her prize money was less than a quarter of the male winner's cheque.

Picture: Adam Pretty/Getty Images The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and Barcelona Open were both rated as 500 events, on clay courts and over three sets. Swiatek has backed up her calls for equal pay as she said the women's game was, in some aspects, more impressive than the men's.
“Watching women’s tennis gives the same emotions, and sometimes even like more emotions, because we are women and we are a little bit more emotional. But, yeah, I think it would be nice if WTA could make it even.”
