The Goliath birdeater, due to its impressive size, has been recognised as the largest spider in the world. It primarily resides in the vast rainforests of northern South America, most notably in the Amazon. Instead, these spiders favour other arthropods, worms, and small animals. They have been known to feed on rodents, frogs, toads, lizards and even snakes.Despite having eight eyes, tarantulas reportedly have relatively poor vision and rely on their vibration-sensitive hairs to detect predators, according to InfoBae. To defend themselves, these giant spiders rub their legs together to release stinging hairs that can blind or irritate attackers.
