A young woman who had concerns about her fertility, hormones, and health was refused an important medical test because she was still a virgin.
A VICE World News investigation in 2023 shed light on the incident which saw the concerned woman told that medics would "cross that bridge" once she had had sex for the first time, Liverpool ECHO reports. The British Medical Society updated its guidance in October 2022, saying "the concept of virginity plays no part in the clinical decision making for transvaginal ultrasound".
