'Worst road in Lancashire' leaves Preston dad 'living in hell' with endless tyre punctures
A Lancashire businessman has called for Lancashire County Council to do more after he says he has been forced to drive his car down "probably the worst road in Preston" marred with huge potholes.
"When you buy a new build house, you know you're going to be dealing with construction- you're on a construction site so you know that's going to happen," John told LancsLive. Since moving to his new home, John says ongoing road works surrounding the housing developments have been part of the 'chaos' he now faces. In 2021, John recalls traffic lights being places at the end of the road on Sandy Lane creating a new junction, however he claims the errors made in that job caused residents to complain en-masse.
"I mean, the traffic jams in the morning were ridiculous. They eventually - after residents complained enough - they finally managed to get the lights to work in a way that didn't cause chaos. But then they messed up that entire junction and the council made them go back to the drawing board. John says repair works that were planned to help improve that area prone to flooding did the opposite and sparked further damage leading up to Sandy Lane.
"There's clearly more sinkholes, my wife's got a 4X4 and even she struggles going down the road- it's just a mess. It's been three or four months this bad, you drive down it and there's potholes everywhere.
