Microsoft is reportedly gearing up to enhance its Xbox Cloud Gaming service with a suite of improvements designed to elevate the streaming experience for Ultimate subscribers. According to Windows Central, the tech giant is investing in increased silicon capacity to accommodate the growing demand for Cloud Gaming , particularly in regions with lower Xbox Series X|S console penetration.
The report suggests that Microsoft is aiming to introduce a range of upgrades, including 4K streaming capabilities, support for PC games, and higher bitrates to ensure seamless high-definition gameplay. Currently, Xbox Cloud Gaming offers resolutions up to 1080p and frame rates up to 60fps, contingent upon internet speed. However, with the reported plans for 4K streaming and enhanced bitrates, gamers can anticipate a significantly more immersive and visually stunning experience. Furthermore, the integration of PC-only titles into the Cloud Gaming library would broaden the gaming horizons for subscribers, allowing them to access a wider selection of titles across various platforms. Adding to the excitement, Microsoft is also said to be gradually incorporating more buy-to-own Xbox cloud games into the service, expanding the library beyond the Game Pass catalog. Last November, Microsoft introduced Cloud Gaming support for 50 games outside of the Game Pass subscription, enabling Ultimate subscribers to stream their owned titles. While further additions remain to be seen, Microsoft's alleged strategy of implementing 'semi-regular content drops' as its network storage capacity expands promises a steady stream of new games to the Cloud Gaming service.
