The deadline to apply for an exemption certificate to legally keep one of the dogs in Scotland is tomorrow.
XL bully owners have one more day to apply for an exemption certificate to legally keep the dogs in Scotland.
The deadline for postal applications was July 15, however those who own the breed can still apply for an exemption certificate online until midnight on July 31. The Scottish Government introduced restrictions on XL bully ownership following legislation passed in England, due to concerns over dog attacks.
Anyone found guilty of breaching the new safeguards could face penalties of up to six months in jail and/or a fine of up to £5,000. Since the exemption application process opened in April, 2,507 dogs have been registered online and seven applications have been received by post.
