Rice watched the ball on its entire journey after it left his bat in his second at-bat of his Major League debut for the Yankees. The left-handed hitter ran out of the batter’s box with a wide turn and wider smile after lining a high fastball to shallow right field, in case Anthony Santander misplayed the ball so he could have a head start to second.
