The total alternate claimant counts made in the area earlier this month were 7465 - a reduction of 115 on 2023’s statistics.
There are more than a hundred people in work across North Lanarkshire than during the same time period last year.
Of the claims submitted, 1405 were by 18-to-24-year-olds and 1550 by people aged 50 and over external relations manager for North Lanarkshire said:” Helping people achieve financial security through work remains the key focus for our job centre teams. “Job centres continue to work with employers to help fill the 889,000 vacancies available which, in turn, contributes to growing the economy.
“We are also holding sessions for potential 16-to-24-year-old candidates to engage in a Digital Skills Boot Camp course. This will prepare them for a future career in a digital environment.“Jobseekers can search our DWP ‘FindaJob’ website to check out the thousands of jobs on offer.”
