It's going to be a hot weekend
A heat health alert has been announced for six regions of the UK, including the East Midlands. Soaring temperatures are expected across the country this weekend, with highs of up to 30C possible.
The alert is in place from 9am on Friday 9 June, to 9am on Monday, June 12 and warns that the health and care sector could suffer as a result. A yellow alert means that weather could increase the use of health services needed by vulnerable parts of the population, especially the elderly or those with pre-existing conditions.
"Forecasted temperatures this week will primarily impact those over the age of 65 or those with pre-existing health conditions such as respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
