Dan Hogben played for Hull City Academy before his kidney disease diagnosis at the age of 16
Warned playing would be too risky, he instead completed his refereeing course at the academy where he used to train.Mr Hogben had played football since he was seven years old, but once his kidney condition was diagnosed, he was devastated to be told the dangers of playing would be too high. However, Mr Hogben said going down the route of refereeing instead had meant he did not have to completely give up his love of the sport.
