Officials with the Manchester Township shelter say the uptick in surrenders is due to breed restrictions in housing and the overall cost of having a dog.

Over the next few weeks, FOX43 is exploring some of the non-profit groups benefiting from Give Local York. and York Fringe have one simple mission, to provide a platform for innovative live arts in the City of York.

"People can see things they normally wouldn't see, get introduced to types of performances they haven't seen before," said Swartz. "It's invaluable having an organization that wants to do fun and exciting things that you can't find anywhere else and then bring them to your space so your guests and new people can come and enjoy them is wonderful," said Robert Faucette, the general manager of Rockfish Public House.
