The York Jewish Community Center celebrated Purim on Sunday. Purim is the Jewish Holiday commemorating the Jewish people’s rescue from massacre as recounted in The Books of Esther.“Purim is a holiday where we're celebrating Queen Esther standing up to the bad guy Haman who was going to destroy the Jewish folk.
She ultimately saved her people around 360 BCE, so now we get together, we celebrate, we eat, and we also celebrate doing the right thing and standing up for what we believe in,” said director for Jewish Life & Culture, Andriel Resh.Besides just celebrating the holiday, Resh said she loves the opportunity for the community to come together.'It's wonderful. We like to bring the community together for fun activities, and for parents and kids to do stuff together,” Resh said.
