Office for National Statistics has revealed last year's favourite baby names according to the exact spellings on birth certificates
Amelia topped the list of girls' names in 2023, with 235 infants bearing that name. In contrast, Olivia was the preferred choice in 2022, chosen for 279 babies.
Kirklees Calderdale Leeds Bradford Sheffield Doncaster Rotherham Barnsley North Yorkshire York East Yorkshire Hull Across England and Wales, Olivia, Amelia and Isla remained the top three choices for baby girl names for the second consecutive year, with Olivia maintaining its position since 2016. For baby girls, seasonal names gained popularity, with Autumn and Summer seeing a surge, especially during their respective seasons; both names are in the top 100.
