Racist yobs who brought shame and embarrassment on Yorkshire
More than 85,000 racially aggravated offences were recorded in the United Kingdom in a 12-month period between 2020 and 2021, according to Stop Hate UK.Stop Hate UK, which runs a helpline for those being targeted, says that nearly half of hate crimes reported to them were related to race. However, on the positive side, a 2019 EU survey, 'Being black in the EU', ranked the UK, along with Portugal, among the least racist in the 12 Western European countries surveyed.
She was also charged with two counts of using threatening behaviour, five counts of racially aggravated harassment, alarm and distress and two counts of racially aggravated common assault. Earlier this year Sheffield Crown Court heard the pair had been drinking at a bar in Leopold Square when they became confrontational with staff.
She said: “You both need to take a long hard look at yourselves and reflect on your behaviour and educate yourselves.” Prosecutor Jo Shepherd said the incident happened after Kovacs entered the building's reception area and was told he had been banned.He also said: "I know your sister."Kovacs then lay on the floor and refused to move despite her trying to reason with him.In his police interview, he denied being discriminatory, saying he was a Muslim, and said he denied swearing, saying he did not know English swear words.
"This was a prolonged and drawn out series of offences which has had a significant impact on the victims, who have been repeatedly racially abused and harassed.
