Several schools in Yorkshire will be closed on Monday, January 6th, due to heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions. The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for the region, predicting disruption to services and transportation.

Parents and children alike will find out whether their school is closed after inches of snow fell across the county. Forecasters at the Met Office have issued an amber weather warning for many parts of the country, including Yorks hire, after the cold snap came into place on Saturday evening until midnight Sunday. According to the amber warning, the snow is expected to cause disruption.
There is expected to be disruption to services, roads and public transport in many areas. For many children, Monday is the first day back after the Christmas break. So far, schools and councils have yet to publish their decisions on school closures but we will be keeping a close eye across all platforms so you can find out with ease. Calderdale Calder Learning Trust In a statement on it's website, it said: 'Due to the adverse weather over the weekend and more snowfall forecasted overnight, The Calder Learning Trust will be closed to all students and staff tomorrow Monday 6 January. 'Please keep checking for further updates, but expect the school to be open as usual on Tuesday 7 January.' Wood Bank School, Halifax In a statement, the school said: 'To all families. I have been speaking with transport throughout the day today and at lunchtime they have made the decision to cancel all transport on Monday due to the predicted snow and ice disruption. It is predicted to be treacherous conditions on Monday morning and unsafe to travel. Therefore school will be closed to all pupils and staff on Monday 6th January and we will reopen on Tuesday 7th January. 'I know this is short notice but we have to follow the advice from the met office and transport and hope you understand this difficult decision. I would rather give you the weekend to plan ahead rather than make the decision on Monday morning causing disruption to all pupil
