NHS England figures show one Lancs town has the third highest number of patients per GP
Patients across Lancashire say they are finding it "nigh on impossible" to get an appointment with their GP as latest figures show one part of the county had the third highest number of patients per doctor.
The latest NHS patient satisfaction survey for the town centre Family Practice surgery at Barbara Castle Way Health Centre in Blackburn found that 39 per cent usually get to see or speak to their preferred healthcare professional when they would like to. "My surgery is apparently one of the worst for it so I'm considering changing. And even when you do get an appointment they're never on time - you're always left waiting."
"You're surprised when you get through. They're building all these housing estates and they all have to register with a GP somewhere. Steven, also from Blackburn, said he rarely visits his GP. "You don't go unless you really have to," he said. "Even if you ring up first thing, when you finally get through there are none left. I often ask for a call back because I can't be sat on the phone all day."
