A YOUNG boxer who is determined to make a living from the sport has told how his mentalAndrew Meichan first put a set of gloves on as a young teenager in 2015 after discovering Noble Art Boxing Club in Nitshill – where he has been training ever since.
“It all started with me getting bullied in school, as well as struggling with my weight, and I just thought ‘I need to do something’.“My mental health wasn’t the worst, but I did have blips here and there. Just getting myself fit and being happy with the way I was and the way my body was, it’s just completely disappeared; I never have any bad days anymore.
“Since the first, it’s been non-stop. I’ve been to four Scottish finals. The rest have been home shows and wee fights here and there.After falling in love with the sport, Andrew dedicated his spare time to training.
