Shortly after the Starlight Beacon opened, the Nihil launched a massive attack on the Jedi, which resulted in the space station's destruction. On top of that, there were also threats beyond the Nihil, like the drengir, a race of carnivorous plant creatures that had been unleashed upon the galaxy.
